EXPORT ASSISTANCE & GRANTS

There are a number of different schemes run by both the State and Federal Governments which assist new and growing exporters. Following are brief details, and links to further information:

Austrade
Austrade are the Federal Government agency responsible for fostering, promoting and assisting the development of Australian Exports. Their network of offices throughout Australia and the world are an integral source of assistance to both new and existing exporters. In addition to the advisory services and in market assistance, Austrade administer the following schemes specifically aimed at assisting new and growing exporters:

 

The Export Market Development Grant (EMDG) provides financial assistance to exporters on a dollar for dollar basis for all eligible marketing expenses spent in excess of $10,000 per financial year. Exporters may receive up to 8 grants and their first application can combine 2 years of eligible expenses. Austrade can provide assistance on how to apply or we can recommend the services of Export Solutions, an independent grants consultant who can assist to maximise your grant.

Each state or territory also has their own departments who have specific responsibility to provide export and trade related assistance.

Queensland
Trade Queensland provides assistance to Queensland exporters through business advice, skill development programs and through their network of international offices. Financial assistance may be available through the Business and Industry Transformation Incentives.

New South Wales
The Department of State and Regional Development provides advisory services to exporters and financial assistance via their Independent Market Visit Program.

Australian Capital Territory
Business & Industry Development provides professional advice to ACT exporters, and financial assistance may be provided via Trade Connect.

Victoria
Victoria Export provides many forms of assistance including their Access Program providing use of overseas office facilities. Financial assistance may also be provided under the First Step Exporter program.

South Australia
The Department of Trade & Economic Development provides advisory services via their network of overseas offices. Financial assistance for inbound or outbound missions, or developing export capability may be available under the Market Access Program.

Western Australia
The Department of State Development provides assistance to Western Australian exporters via their Global Network of international offices.
